SCHOOL WHATSAPP GROUP or REUNION GROUP. Ha, almost both everyone we know and we don’t are at least a member of one such group. Reunion group here isn’t necessarily limited to any degree of education (primary school to universities), work, or any other groups where people we used to know and interact with are in.
Unfortunately, not every Whatsapp group is always fun and cool. The members of the groups are so passive that some groups are without any new messages for months.
These could be the reasons why your Whatsapp groups are ridiculously quiet and boring as if there’s nobody around:
Brief Nostalgia
When the group started to exist and we were included in the forum, people were talking about they were doing, their workplaces, family, where they lived, etc. It felt great to hear from the friends we had not seen or heard of for so long even though only through phone or Whatsapp Web.
Alas, the little reminiscence didn’t last for long in many cases. A month passed by, alright, there were still notifications from the school group. Two months, only half responded to chats. Three months, I just realised there was a school group. Duh.
There are Simply Too Many Groups
Work, family, neighbourhood friends, working out friends, hang out friends, fishing pals, mountaineering clubs, bird pet forums, car/bike clubs, religious groups, etc. Everything fills up your Whatsapp home.
Redundant, yeah? Oh, right, I haven’t mentioned primary school group, then junior high, high school, college, movies fans community, polyglot groups, paid ones, and others you might think didn’t exist. Moreover, how you are there in the groups is confusing as you were added randomly.
There are chances your friends are also active in other groups that make your little reunion group become ignored. It’s hard to be multitasking, isn’t it?
Too Busy
Especially for you who work and take care of your houses, time feels so short to be spent on using your phone and checking what notifications are popping on your screen. You really don’t want risking your works to take longer to finish, or to be even more stressing as they keep being delayed, do you? Sometimes people can only get their hands on their phones in the breaks. During the breaks they’re busy having lunch, praying, relaxing, etc. There are things far more important to them than using their phones.
Lack of Topics
Are there more interesting and baiting topics than childbirth, wedding, obituary, hoaxes, plans for reunion or meeting up, healthy tips, life hacks and breaking news that come in all of a sudden with little to none attention to proper spelling and use of space (since they’re just forwarded messages anyway)?
Posting photos of days of past? Okay, that will get people discussing for 1-2 hours at best. Asking for something? You’ll be better than lucky to see many people respond, know, and answer it correctly. After that, that’s it, you run out of ideas.
Feeling Unfamiliar in The Group
Although used to be close friends, but if you hadn’t seen for a while, the people you call your bestfriends might have changed a lot ever since. Old ways of talking might not relate to today’s context. You wanna say one thing, but afraid of being wrong; say other thing, but afraid that people won’t get it. This causes you or your friends to be reluctant in becoming conversation icebreakers.
Things can go worse if there’s someone who might be feeling nervous as they’re not confident in engaging a chat. There has to be some shyness, while it could actually be just their feelings.
Because The Party's Over
The easiest reasons you can imagine
1). You plan a reunion
2). Deal
3). Meet the people
4). Party's over
5). Back to each other's lives
Candy from a baby.
Because They Just Ignore Things
Some people feel uncomfortable and disturbed with constant, never ending notifications that are blocking their nice phone wallpapers. The easy, effective, instant, and rather insensitive (at least from those interacting’s perspective) way is to ignore and to give least attention to them. In addition, they can choose not to download pictures automatically. With ignoring them, their beloved selfies, food pics and sweetest memories won’t get overshadowed and drowned by group pictures automatically downloaded to the gallery and saved into the memory.
You still show a glimmer of notice if you come into the group chat, click the descending arrow so others still take it as you’ve read it all. It’s different with purposedly silent the notification (moreover for a year), as you most likely miss everything at all.
